BOSTON CREAM
Take 1 ½ lb. sugar, 2 oz. tartaric acid, 1 bottle essence lemon, and the white of 1 egg. Put the sugar, acid and lemon into a jug, pour on 3 pints of boiling water. When nearly cold stir in the well-beaten white of an egg and bottle. To a tumbler of water put 2 ½ teaspoonfuls of the preparation, adding a little carbonate of soda when drinking. This is a delightful drink in the hot weather.
