Creamed Chicken
From 1911:
Two chickens or six pounds; cook till tender and shred. Put quart of cream on stove to heat; also put 4 tablespoons of flour and 4 tablespoons of butter on stove to heat, then pour over the cream 1 grated nutmeg, 2 cans of mushrooms, all seasoned highly with red pepper, also black, and little onions chopped fine. Mix all together and pour over the chicken. Put in dish and cover with bread crumbs and lumps of butter. Cook in oven 20 minutes. Cut the mushrooms. Excellent.
