Egg and Tomato Pie
From 1922:
Place a layer of tomatoes in a greased pie-dish, break one or two eggs on these (as for poaching) then add another layer of tomatoes, one or two more eggs and a few more tomatoes. Place brown breadcrumbs on top with pieces of butter, add salt and pepper to each layer and bake in a hot oven for about fifteen minutes.
