Nut Bread
From 1922:
Take 2 cupfuls of flour, (self-raising), 2 tablespoonfuls butter, ½ cupful sugar, 1 egg, ¼ lb. walnuts or almonds, ½ cupful milk. Rub butter into flour, add nuts, beat egg and sugar, mix altogether with milk, and bake one hour in two Cerebos salt tins with lids on.
