PLUM PUDDING WITHOUT EGGS

Take 1 cupful each of flour, sugar and dried fruit, 1 tablespoonful butter, 1 teaspoonful carbonate soda, a pinch of salt. Mix soda thoroughly with flour, rub the butter through, add the sugar and fruit, and mix well with half a cupful of boiling water. Allow the mixture to stand over night, then boil in a cloth for not less than three hours. The longer time it is boiled the better the pudding will be.
