TOMATO SAUCE
From 1922:
Six pounds of tomatoes, half a pound of apples, half a pound of onions, half a pound of sugar, quarter of a pound of salt, half an ounce of garlic, half an ounce of all spice, half an ounce of peppercorns, two drams (or one large dessertspoonful) of chillies, two drams of mace, two drams of cloves, two drams of curry powder, and one pint of vinegar. Boil all the ingredients together for three hours, strain through a colander or a hair sieve, and bottle.
